Scope and Content
The collection contains DVDs of 15 black and white or color 16mm films. The films, mostly instructional, contain documentary footage filmed in Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Ecuador and the United States. The films contain information about Latin American countries and U.S.-Latin American relations. The collection also includes World War II era films promoting the Good Neighbor Policy. Films are in English, Spanish or Portuguese.
The films were originally used for instruction at the UNM Modern Languages Department. Descriptions of the films, when available, are from the film company's promotional material.

Processing Information
In 2009, 33 films were withdrawn from the collection, the remaining 15 were reformated to DVD. Some of the original films are in poor condition. The films that were removed can be found on YouTube, Internet Archive, Prelinger Archives or at other institutions such as University of California, Berkeley, University of South Carolina and Ball State.
