Scope and Content

This small collection contains two letters and "Sains Weekly Letter Book." The first letter, from Charles MacKnight Sain to Richard C. Dillon, Governor of New Mexico, requests a copy of Sains work to be deposited at the State University of New Mexico. The second is a letter from publisher, Ginn & Company rejecting Sains manuscript. The third component of the collection, "Sains Weekly Letter Book" consists of a typescript title page, copies of Sains weekly letters, and a few miscellaneous items. Sains weekly letters were sent to 245 newspapers within the Colorado River Basin. These letters covered such topics as population growth, labor, wage system, land taxes, financial condition of farmers, and education.

Biographucal Information

From 1915-1926 Charles MacKnight Sain served at the postmaster of Logandale, Nevada. In 1927 he was a member of the Colorado River Basin Chamber of Commerce in Logandale. During this time he developed and wrote about his own systems for liquid land titles, wages, taxes, and common schools.
