 Collection
Identifier: MSS-130-BC

Scope and Content

This collection consists of a single volume that primarily contains the minutes of annual meetings. The minutes generally show the election of officers for the coming year, the distribution of stock and the distribution of dividends. Late entries indicate the business had fallen on hard times. Early minutes are hand written, the final four entries are typewritten and tipped in to the volume. Also included is a single letter to a Sylvestre... Mirabel in San Rafael, NM, indicating that the mill only had $24.08 on hand for work done in the first seven months of 1915. See more

Historical Information

The Albuquerque Wool Scouring Mills was incorporated under the territorial laws of New Mexico in 1900. It ceased doing business around 1916; however, there are no records in the collection indicating the date of its demise. The business was located on property owned by the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railway near 2nd and Mountain NW, Albuquerque, from 1900 through 1916. The Albuquerque City Directory for 1917 shows that a business called... Albuquerque Warehouse, Inc., was located at that address in 1917 and that W. E. Rogers, one of the operating partners of the Albuquerque Wool Scouring Mills, was the agent for Albuquerque Warehouse. The business of the Wool Scouring Mills was the purchase of wool, along with hides and pelts, the cleaning of same and resale to manufacturers. The plant also cleaned wool and hides on a piece or batch basis for return to the owners. See more
