Dr. Flora Clancy's academic career is documented via background information, correspondence, writings, class and seminar outlines, professional activities, and research material.
Iconography and imagery of Mayan monuments was the main focus of Clancy's research. Tikal and Piedras Negras (Guatemala) and Palenque (Chiapas, Mexico) are areas of concentration, and thus, the predominant subject of her writings. Other significant sites include Chichen Itza, Coba, Tulum, Uxmal, Yaxichlan (Mexico) Copan (Guatemala), as well as Chaco Canyon (NM).
Syllabi and course materials for courses taught by Dr. Clancy at the University of New Mexico are in the collection. Courses focus on ancient Mesoamerican art. Professional activities include participation in seminars and conferences, book reviews, and contributions to scholarly volumes.
