Scope and Contents

From the Collection: This is a collection of historic photographs, post cards, and stereoscopic photograph cards of New Mexico and the Southwest, circa 1880-1910. New Mexico locales include Albuquerque, Columbus, Kingston, Lake Valley, Las Vegas, Raton, Roy, San Pedro, Santa Cruz, Santa Fe, Socorro, Taos, Willard, as well as the Pueblos of Laguna, San Juan, and Taos. Santa Fe is a dominant location and photographic images of the San Miguel Chapel are prevalent. Landscapes, cityscapes, buildings, vistas, the railroad, cavalry, and cattle ranching are subjects within the collection. Post cards of Pancho Villa and the presence of photographic images by William Henry Jackson are notable.
