Scope and Contents

Notebook containing 16 original watercolor paintings by Donald Waskey. The paintings comprise the political platform of Waskey, also known as Ulysses S. Grant, who campaigned as an independent candidate for governor of New Mexico in 1970. Waskey gave the notebook to the Illing family for safe-keeping in 1970. Added to the notebook by the Illing family are a December 1970 newspaper clipping relating to two murders at a Placitas commune committed by Waskey and a photocopy of a 1988 newspaper article concerning the murder of Waskey and his wife in Idaho. The notebook was added to the collection in September 2023.
