Russell Means, Leonard Crow Dog, Dennis Banks, Billy Lazore, Tom Bad Cob, and Black Elk are among the prominent American Indian Movement figures represented in this collection. The Wounded Knee Trading Post and church are also depicted.

The name of the collection was changed from "Carol Sullivan Wounded Knee Photograph Collection" to "Carol Sullivan Pictorial Collection" in 2017. Some of the material was prepared for an undated exhibit in Albuquerque, along with undated exhibit material.
