This section contains correspondence, legal documents, legal rulings, newspaper clippings, and government documents pertaining to the contested New Mexico senatorial election race of November 1952 by Republican candidate General Patrick J. Hurley, retired, of Santa Fe, NM, against incumbent Democrate Senator Dennis Chávez. This was Hurley's third senatorial bid in which he lost. All three times he contested the results, however, his contest against Chávez was the only one taken through the entire process which took 17 months, ending in March 1954.
