Scope and Contents

Ruben Cobos interview cont. Begins at 00:07 and ends at 14:08. Conversation (good recording, about personal experiences, he knew several languages, learned at UNM, Dr. Cobos was in charge of a group of translators during World War II, United States Army, intercepted communications from Latin America and Germany, 1942 he received a letter from the State of New Mexico that he was drafted into the war, discusses his deployment, shipped out to Maryland, West Virginia, for military training school, he was trained to detect the different sounds made by German vehicles, tanks vs. towed, personal use vehicles, slept under the trees, was injured in training, hurt left ankle, sent to hospital, soldiers recruited from North Africa, worked as an interpreter, could not find work when he returned, in 1944 he started teaching at the University of New Mexico during the summer term, then started working on his Doctorate, wrote many articles for folklore magazines, proverbs, University of California, Los Angeles, etc.).
