Scope and Contents
Instrumental. Begins at 00:08 and ends at 2:21. Radio show (poor recording, probably Cobos recording from the radio).
Harold Tafoya, repeat of CD 363. Begins at 2:25 and ends at 5:28. 1. Traditional beliefs (fair recording, superstitions, children to respect parents, if raise hand in anger, hand will dry up); 2. Velorios (fair recording, wakes, curandera, rosary, alabados, midnight dinner, food, muerte, funeral, impact of death on children, etc.).
Harold Tafoya. Begins at 7:40 and ends at 8:39. Chilorio (fair recording, local traditions, food preparation, preparing red chile, chile burning feeling on hands, cooking, chilorio sometimes refers to the midnight dinner at the velorio, when red chile is served, luminarias never used at a velorio, luminarias were wood bonfires, crossed logs in a square, pinon wood, lighted on a mountainside, for Christmas, Navidad).
Harold Tafoya and Nora Tafoya. Begins at 10:06 and ends at 14:20. Conversation (fair recording, personal information, his father was Federico Tafoya, mother was Veroniz Espinosa Tafoya, Nora's parents were Merenciano Sandoval and Eufemia Aragon de Sandoval); 2. Oremos (fair recording, local traditions in Colorado, in Albuquerque oremos is Halloween, children go door to door, given candy, nuts and fruit, on Christmas morning, mis cristmas, Navidad in Colorado, children go door to door, saying Mis Cristmas, given candy, nuts and fruit, was popular in 1940s and early 1950s, now few children go around, tells that at Christmas morning, New Years Day, La Bendicion, children go to elders for a blessing, prayer, sign of cross, kiss their hand, Navidad, in Las Vegas, children, age seven to twelve years old, went door to door for treats, singing Oremos angelitos semos, que del cielo venemos, si no nos dan oremos, puertas y ventanas quebraremos,etc.).

Marriage customs (fair recording, traditions, bendicion de los novios, marriage blessing, to bride and groom after entriega de novios, given by parents then grandparents, on both sides, in Colorado, bendicion of new married couple in bride's home); 2. Entriega (fair recording, before wedding sponsors responsible for the couple, hijados, cuatro rosas, afterward bride and groom are responsible to each other, bride is first given to groom and then groom to the bride, entriega contains advise to groom on how to care for his wife, women); 3. Baptism (fair recording, traditions, role of godparents, words they recite at time, dinner party, band played, etc.).
