Scope and Contents

Cleofes Vigil. CD is a copy of New Mexican Alabados, 1960, three songs sung by Cleofes Vigil, no accompaniment, good recording, slow, lament, Penitente songs, commerical recording, Taos Recordings and Publications, Taos, New Mexico Side one, 1. Por la orilla de un arroyo (el pastor searching for his lost sheep along the banks of an arroyo, he is praying, the Virgin of Guadalupe appears to him and brings them back to him, miracle, milagro, borreguero, ganado, Virgin Mary); 2. En este nuevo dia (sung at dawn to thank the Lord for the sun, flowers, fields and trees); Side two, 3. Lloren, pecadores (sung during the re enactment of the passion of Jesus, after Roman soldiers seize Jesus, sinner lament the anguish of Our Lord, Semana Santa, Holy Week).
