H. Martinez, 1971: Anonymous. Pedro de Urdemalas, Part II, cont. (Very poor recording, cuento, humorous story, chicken, animals, girl friend, women, vieja, dinero, food, brother; conversation, the speaker changes his voice to mimick ways in which certain phrases are spoken, language, expressions).

Garcia, 1970: Lazaro Frank Griego, b. 1888, Albuquerque, NM. (Fair recording, some parts bad, others good.) 1. Dos hermanos (cuento, story about two brothers, one rich and the other poor, during the Christmas season, the poor brother does not have enough money for his family to eat and decides to ask his brother for help. He travels through the forest to his brother's house where he meets an old man, viejito, who invites him to stay the night, the next day he arrives at his brother's house and asks for something to eat. His brother refuses and calls him a lazy vagabond. He is finally given a pig leg, ham, by others and is very grateful, but he trades the ham for an object, a magic mill, from dwarfs, elfs, enanos, that lived in the forest. With magic words, the object grants any wish. His wife is happy and wishes for food, a new dining table, dishes and a new home. The couple later go the Misa de Gallo, Shepherd's Mass, Midnight Mass, Christmas eve, where they see the rich brother, who is shocked and apologizes, the poor brother says todos somos iguales, we are all equal, equality. In a related story, many are jealous of the once poor man, he is robbed by pirates who want salt, which is of high value, they are instead offered sea water, el mar. Garcia, 1970: Della Maria Gomez, Cortez, Colorado. El diablo en Tierra Amarilla, New Mexico (cuento, story of a family in Tierra Amarilla, who had a beautiful daughter who liked to dance and have fun. During Semana Santa, Lent, Cuaresma, Holy Week, her parents forbade her from going out, but she goes anyway. That night at a dance, a boy enters that is handsome and different, she dances with him for a long time. At the end of the night, he walks her home, but her family is very Catholic and have religious decorations inside so when he enters the house he is terrified suddenly and disappears, the girl faints and later dies. They discover later that he was the devil that appeared as a man because at the dance, someone noticed that he had a tail).

Garcia, 1970: Lazaro Frank Griego, b. 1888, Albuquerque, NM. (Poor recording). 1. Story (memories, family, he and two men that worked with him are eating dinner when the phone rings, the caller questions him about his status, education, place of birth, says he is from the sierra, mountain, then the speaker seems to trail off to offer background information about his great grandfather. His bisabuelo came as a cook from Spain on a flotilla, small fleet of ships. They arrived first in Florida and travelled to the Mississippi River collecting cueros, animal hides for leather. He later traveled to Colorardo and then to New Mexico as a soltero, single man, with two children, Lazaro and Julian. He soon marries a local woman, known as an indigena, Native American Indian, a mestiza, and she gives birth to speaker's father).

Garcia, 1970: Lupe Sanchez, b. 1941, Albuquerque, NM. (Very poor recording, long, difficult to hear). Por que los marranos no ven al cielo (cuento, story, humor, people say that if you go to church duing Holy Week, Semana Santa, a time of repentance, you will be okay, but the people that are out dancing and not praying are not people but pigs. This is why pigs were punished by God and not allowed to enter heaven).

Garcia, 1970: Pedro Herrera, b. 1934, La Madera, NM. (Very poor recording). 1. Los viejitos que querian rejuvenecerse (cuento, humorous story about the old men that wanted to be young again, the young and old men exchange ages with other one another, but must complete certain tasks first, kill a lamb, journey, money, pistola, happy ending); 2. Mentiras (cuento, story of a humorous competition to see who can tell the biggest lie, three lies are - La Calabaza; Dos Amigos y el Pastel; y El Rabi and el Ministro, Jewish, religion, church).
