G. N. Martinez, 1974: Amadeo Lucero, b. 1903, Dixon, NM. 1. Las brujas y el diablo (anecdote about witches, brujas, speaker and friends were passing San Juan de los Caballeros, New Mexico, when they saw a witch. Another story takes place near San Juan de Luceros, near Chamita, near San Juan Pueblo, New Mexico, people see an empty house light up, inside they could hear witches laughing and dancing. Speaker's dad also told him about having chiniba, a different word for fear, miedo. He warns listeners to be careful and to not go out at night, especially women and children, family, discipline, talks about signs of curses, of the devil, of believing and ignoring. He has a book of that proves their existence, curses, spells); 2. Canciones, one La Cubanita (poem, rhyming song lyrics about girl from Cuba - I left from Cuba to Mexico, on a boat from Nuevo Leon, they had a beautiful Cuban girl from an island, taken by seamen, she was sad at her bad luck, the seaman consoles her, second song about a beautful, dark skinned, morena girl, asks her for love, la duena de mi corazon); 3. Adivinazas (riddles, answers, vacas pintas, las tortillas, un huevo, la puente, la hacha).

G. N. Martinez, 1974: Amadeo Lucero, b. 1903, Dixon, NM. 1. Datos personales (speaker was school teacher for thirty six years, in different schools in Taos and Rio Arriba Counties, currently retired, education); 2. Brujas (anecdote, warns listeners about witches, brujas, tells a story from his youth about a woman witch that put a curse, maldicion, on a neighbor, created and pricked with pins a doll for him that caused him pain, like voodoo. He goes on to discuss 400,000 brujas in England, even more in France, witches in Europe).

El santuario de Chimayo (leyenda, legend, some say saints walk among us at night in Chimayo; after praying there, the holy land has magic, mystery, miraculous powers, people that have never walked will be cured and walk again, cures, etc. Catholic beliefs, miracles); 2. El Cristo de Rancho de Taos (story of a retrato, religious art, in a church in Taos that you can see at night but not during the day, relumbra en la noche, mystery, miracle); 3. Cuento de Chimayo (story of the people taking holy sand from a hole in the ground that never empties, it fills itself); 4. El perico (two cuentos, vulgar humor, a parrot and wino drunkard, who talked to himself because his wife never talked to him, buys a parrot to talk to, parrot makes fun of wino and tell him that his wife cheats on him, adultery, marriage, women).

H. Martinez, 1971: Harold Garcia, b. 1941, Pojoaque, NM. (Good recording). 1. El perico (chiste, joke, men fill donkey's cart with wood, one man says bad words and the parrot repeats, parrot repeats other vulgar phrases and repeats them later in church); 2. La Llorona (cuento, in this version, a woman that has children out of wedlock, mother, children die and she cries for them in the town, she was said to be bewitched, bruja, it was said that if you look directly at her, you would die of fear, it was said that she was able to turn into an owl, tecolote, her name was La Llorona); 3. La escalera de San Jose (cuento, story about nuns, Sisters of Loretto, monjas, during the building of the Loretto Chapel, Santa Fe, New Mexico, church, men created a upstairs area for the choir, coro, but no staircase was ever done, Sister pray for help, man comes and offers to do it for them, builds a wooden spiral staircase, he did not use one single nail for the steps, Sisters look for the man to pay him, but he disappeared and never returned, believed the man to be San Jose, Saint Joseph, miracle, Catholic Faith).

(Very poor recording, story told to a group of women, who laugh, ask questions and use the expression - mierda, bad words, about of men who want to take three children away from their mother, money, fire, church, thieves, girls, a trap is set on a bridge, mule, house, fear, posada - hospitality); 2. Story of Pedro de Urdemalas, Part I (es un hombre muy pobre, poor man, king, money, river, a boy whose father died wants a goat and a mule, death, muerte).
