Fuentes, 1974: Isabel Santillanes, b. 1883, Lemitar, NM. 1. Lucia y los indios (chiste, cuento, humor, speaker first relates that she does not like Native Americans Indians, they did no harm to her, but because they killed and then burned her father and her uncle, she does not like them - during the time of the killings, a girl named Lucia's mother screams to the Indians before they kill her and then they run away); 2. La madre asustaba a los ninos (cuento, chiste, while speaker's father worked, her mother left her alone to visit a neighbor, when she returns, before entering home she sticks a pinon branch through the window and scares her daughter, who is terrified of death, she thought it was something evil, and her mom laughs, women); 3. Costumbres, customs (cuento, story, once, a man came to their ranch in search of her father, she runs to tell him that an ugly and scary man is looking for him, it turns out to be his cousin, Gregorio, they make fun of her comment, relates a similar short story, instances of fear, now that she is old, she is never scared); 4. Cuento de Tia Manuelita (story of her aunt who refused to get married when proposed to, novios, single women, soltera, wedding, marriage); 5. Costumbres del baile (customs, a night when she and friends were at home with their father, her father made her mend his jacket instead of letting her go to the dance, teenagers, strict parents, discipline, family, other similar short stories. Fuentes, 1974: Jose Fuentes, b. 1923, Hurley, NM. 1. Cuento de fantasma (ghost story, man walks home from a dance one night, while crossing a bridge, sees something white, is terrified, begins to run, object follows him, turns out to be a donkey, he yells maldito burrito); 2. Cuento de fantasma (ghost story, near Palomas, Hot Springs, when speaker is fourteen, his father makes him and his younger sister feed pigs in the dark night, children hear strange noises and see light of a cigarrette, smoked by a skull, calavera, run to tell parents, some think it is burglars, ladrones, bandits, and they begin searching for it, they find a skeleton - like figure, that laughs and leads them to the cemetery, they shoot him and it turns to dust, believed it to be la mala cosa, evil thing, devil, diablo); 3. Adivinazas (three riddles, el puente, bridge, la navaja, knife, la hacha, axe); 4. Cuento de fantasma (ghost story, near pueblo of Garfield, New Mexico, large adobe home of a family was haunted by noises, bulla, the family had to move, one day a bulto, blurred shape appears out of the mesquite and the noises stop. Fuentes, 1974: Jose Fuentes, b. 1923, Hurley, NM. 1.Cuento (chiste, humor, story, two men, un mexicano y un americano, sheepherders, can't understand each other, trying to prepare supper, get into an argument over misunderstandings, language); 2. Los viejitos vecinos (cuento, story about old neighbors, that had never spoken before, and speak Spanish normally, one neighbor pretends he is Anglo by speaking Spanish with an American accent, later they wonder why they are speaking English, language); 3. Musicos Mexicanos (cuento, story about Mexican orchestra that traveled on an American bus to California for a concert, bus driver asks them for their bus tokens, they think he means- toquen or to play, they start playing their instruments, language, misunderstanding, play on words); 4. Rima infantil (dhildren, nursery rhyme, women); 5. Cancion infantil (song, children stand in a circle, holding hands and sing limon partido, naranja dulce, one ends up in the middle and gets a hug. This speaker is a different woman, not Jose Fuentes possibly Mrs. Adelina Fuentes).

Fiuentes, 1974: Jose Fuentes, b. 1923, Hurley, NM. 1. Chiste (joke about race, ethnicity, three foreign soldiers are in war, a battle fortress under attack, the Frenchman takes a bullet and says its for his country, the Italian takes a bullet for his flag, the Mexican runs for a ladder, escapes and saves himself); 2. Historia de spook (scary story, ghost story, of an old abandoned church in a small town that had a light in the window at night, man from the town went to investigate, saw church full of people who had died, ghosts, fantasmas. The man ran back to town to tell his friends what he had seen, sighed and then fell dead, muerte. As customary, couples left remnants of their weddings, marriage, in church, it is said that after death, they come back to find them and haunt it).

Sanchez, 1974: Anonymous females and males, people at a party, Part I (conversation, very informal recording, many speakers and no one speaks into the recording device. In the first part, there are many women and much laughter. Reunion of two women, they remember a graduation, Easter time, huevos de pascua, Easter eggs, speak in English and Spanish, Spanglish, language, looking at old photos, discuss a death of a friend, time and place of the velorio, funeral, muerte, death. At this point it seems that the recorder moves into the room of the men, they discuss prestamos, language, words in Spanish borrowed from English, un toque de cigaro, smoking, whiskey, an instance with car trouble, a diabetic friend, other related incidents.
