Eleuto Medina, b. 1890, San Luis, Colorado. (Ella Vigil worked with Cobos at Colorado College). 1. Datos personales (personal information, 83 years old, born in Chama, New Mexico, on October 15, stayed in Chama only 3 days, moved to La Valle, Colorado, Father Felipe Medina, mother Teofila Sanchez, at 5 years old he moved to Monte Vista, Colorado, graduated 1911 from Monte Vista, went back to La Valle to teach in 1912, salary of $57 per month, interest in folklore, folk music, grandfather was a musician, died in 1892); 2. El Pasquin de la Carrera (verses, poem, satire written by Raymundo Quintana at a foot race that took place in San Luis, Colorado, on February 15, 1913. Race between speaker and Dario Valdez from San Luis. I don't have an education, I hope I give a good beginning and end, a race took place between friends on main street, people placed their bets on boys, from good families, $80, at 12 noon, they weren't cowards, epic race); 3. New Mexico folk music for guitar and violin, Eleuto Medina, violin and Frank Garcia, guitar (speaker explains the music originated near the Southern New Mexico - Texas border. Credo para velorio (explanation of tradition of a velorio, there were no funeral homes, deceased placed on a table in home of family, wrapped in a veil, visitors and family surround corpse and say prayers, sing, etc., death, muerte, burial. Creed, prayer for a wake recited by Pablo Medina from La Valle, Colorado, well known entertainer, and answered by many others in room. Holy Virgin Mary bless him, I believe in Christ, the Catholic Roman church, the forgiveness of sinners, bless the sick, rest in peace, recitation of the Padre Nuestro, Our Father, I believe in the death and the passion of Christ, Pontius Pilate, Jesus sits on the right side of God); 5. Alabados (religious hymns, songs, sung my many, at a wakes to assure that deceased arrives at Glory, in hour of death, muerte, Precious Virgin Mary concede our blessing, sinners forgiven ); 6. Versos de Conrado Romero al finado Pablo Medina (rhyming recited verses typically sung during a Spanish waltz, composed by Conrado Romero to honor the late Pablo Medina, of San Luis, Colorado. He was a charming man, faithful Catholic, without enemies, he left us suddenly, Penitente, currently in heaven.

Fedelina Martinez, b. 1903, San Luis, Colorado, and Margarito Espinosa, b. 1920, La Valle, Colorado. Sudario (recited by 71 year old Martinez and 54 year old Espinosa, prayer for spirit of a deceased person, begins with Our Father and Hail Mary, allow the spirit to rest, purgatory, resurrection, passion, death, muerte, velorio, funeral).

Tonita Medina, b. 1915, San Pablo, Colorado. 59 years old 1. Cantico para el mes de mayo (song for month of May, also called the month of Maria, to Virgin Mary. Receive my flowers, my heart, give us your holy blessing); 2. El bendito (sung in old times by parents after praying rosary, the sacraments are holy, the Immaculate Conception, without original sin, Holy Saint Joseph, chosen as a father. The soul of good Christian defends against bad by the cross, free us God. After song, speaker elaborates on tradition); 3. Misterios del rosario (duet sung by Tonita and Fedelina Martinez, Mysteries of the Rosary, by the bitter fall, Virgin Mary, you say your beloved, hurt on the cross, without His beauty, tender cries, free those of hell who pray your rosary, powerful voice, give us holy death, to heaven).
