McKelvey, 1971: Edwin Berry, b. 1915, Tome, NM. 1. Suceso extraordinario (Part II, cursed pregnancy, childbirth, women, children, witchcraft, curanderismo); 2. La bruja (a good woman, a gardener, made marmalade for all, people thought she was witch, a curandera comes, checks, explains that the face that isn't visible in a water hole is a that of a witch, Cobos note - una Senora Padilla); 3. El sembrador de trigo (wheat farmer, wages of worker who dug irrigation ditch, acequia, employment, job, farming, Penitent planted wheat for God, the animals, the world); 4. Don Matias (verse, made moonshine, Prohibition, on the feast day of San Lorenzo, one should not work, Don Matias planted anyway, storm erupted, ruined crop); 5. El ciego Juan Lucero (Juan had smallpox as a child, lost mother to smallpox, went blind, as an adult, he sang beautifully, was healthy and owned a store, worked on carpentry at night, when a boy asked him why he worked at night, he replied, for me, it is always night, he was a Christian, walked fast and alone, always worked, from Spain).
