Mela Gallegos, b. 1921, Mexico. La princesa que no se reia (folk tale, young man seeking his fortune, king offers hand of daughter, old man with good advice for youth, eventually he marries princess).

Santiago Rivera, b. 1944, Tucumcari, NM. (Cobos note: maybe Gallegos?) 1. El del velorio (anecdote, man attends many wakes mostly so he can eat food, goes to one where they never give him food, he is annoyed, criticizes it as a small affair, as for an angelito, child, funeral, death, muerte); 2. Un hombre con un solo hijo (anecdote, man sends his son to school to learn English, but boy wastes the money, when he comes home Dad and boy go talk to an Anglo American about buying a pig, play on words, language); 3. El macho (anecdote, a family owns some machos, male mules, one day an Anglo American asks for a match, thinking he said macho, play on words, language).

Eustolia Rivera, b. 1947, Tucumcari, NM. 1. Gigantela giganta (cuento, a version of the Hansel and Gretel folk tale, from Tucumari, New Mexico, in Spanish, with variations, see CD 102 and CD 147); 2. Adivinanzas (twelve riddles, one is about jitomate); 3. El changuito y su colita (fair recording, song in story from Colima, Mexico, cuento, con cancion, agglutinate song, a little monkey accidently cuts off part of his tail, he visits many different people about his tail or colita, and gets a navajita, knive, a basket, a bottle, a little lamb, and a little child, finally ends up in tree eating bread and cheese from the storekeeper and singing this song).
