Alberto Romero, b. 1922, Logan, NM. 1. Versos del chiquiado,chiquiao (fair recording, many poetic strophes, verses, dance game, more that CD 164); The following are poor recordings. 2. Los diez perritos (puppies, similar to ten little Indians, school song, education, children); 3. La rana (folk song for children, frog and rat, mouse, agglutinate, folk song); 4. Desde que llegue a este punto (title of a late nineteenth century Mexican American folk song, later 1800s, the singer, composer is making fun of himself in telling how advanced he is in his efforts to learn English, language, folk song); 5. Viento, viento (children, school song, education, tell the wind that he is a thief that blows and takes their things away with him, ask where he is going and say he has baggy pants, weather); 6. Tecolotito (children school song, education, the large owl, el papa, is usually identified with witchcraft, a baby barn owl is the subject of songs used for musical programs, games, etc.); 7. El zapatero (the cobbler and the camisero, shoemaker and haberdasher, figures as objects of children, their fun, mock anger at not getting their tailor made apparel as ordered, folk song); 8. La vaquerita ( folk dance that seems to be of local New Mexican origin, folk dance, children dance as they sing about the poor cowboys who have no shirts, hats or shoes, ranching).
