Scope and Contents
Benigno Trujillo, b. 1886, Chimayo, NM (or Ezequiel Trujillo, b. 1932). Cobos noted two men given for this entry. 1. La vida del borreguero (good to fair recording, folk song about the hardships endured by a common sheepherder, who has to take up sheepherding because he is poor, poverty,labor, work, employment); 2. Casose don Valeriano (fair recording, Don Valeriano gets married and invites all his friends and relatives to the wedding dance, at midnight there is a fist fight that last until dawn, all are injured, marriage, folk song, poetry, recited); 3. Adivinanza (riddle about four cats); 4. Bertoldo (humorous incidents in the life of the scoundrel Bertoldo include his visit to the queen, she sets her dogs on him, he releases his hare, rabbbit, and dogs chase it, saving him, related adventures, folk tale).
Alfonso Trujillo, b. 1963, Chimayo, NM. 1. El tecolotito (good recording, child singing, seven year old Alfonso sings a children's song about an owl that is foraging for food in a little basket, folk song, children); 2. El zapatero (good recording, child singing, song about a customer who is mad because the cobbler failed to make him a pair of shoes with rounded tips, like a duck bill, shoemaker, folk song).

Indita de carreras (fair recording, song about a famous horse race in Chimayo, New Mexico, takes place in April with the Luceros betting against don Antonio Herrera, folk song); 2. Indita de Mariano (good to fair recording, ballad, corrido, about an encounter between Navajo Indians and Mariano and his people, on March 25, at Laguna del Diablo, the Hispanic settlers, sheepherders want to water their sheep at the lake, but the Indians demanded twenty rams, then fourteen head in payment for the water, mentions Reyes A. Ledesma, Carlos Griego, and Indio Tomas, Native American Indian).
Ezequiel Trujillo, b. 1932, Chimayo, NM. Corrido de Kansas (poor recording, fifteen Mexican vaqueros, cowboys, are taking some five hundred head of cattle to Kansas, the ballad tells of the hardships endured by the men as they cross the plains, Llano de San Marcos and the Rio Grande, in Kansas one of the young cowboys is gored to death by a bull, muerte, Mexicanos, ranching, Mexico, long recording, ballad).
Felipe Trujillo, b. 1922, Chimayo, NM. 1. Bertoldino (Bertoldino is sentenced to hang, he asks for a last wish, to select the tree from which he is to be hanged, Bertoldino cannot decide which tree he wants, the king pardons him and he goes free, folk tale); 2. Mataseca (game which consists of getting everyone in a group to keep absolutely quiet, once mataseca is announced, meaning a dead rat or dead horse, everyone is supposed to be quiet, adults use this game to keep children from becoming overly noisy, the first to break the silence must eat the mataseca rat or horse, game, discipline).
Anonymous female, Chimayo, NM. 1. anecdote (a man gathers a large crowd around him and says he will fly into the clouds if they pay him, conclusion); 2. anecdote (an elephant falls into the sea and a man pulls him out, all wet).
Anonymous female, Chimayo, NM. La perrita (a woman is advised to put gasoline on a small female dog that keeps on scratching incessantly, when the female dog fails to return home, a neighbor tells the woman her female dog ran out of gas, that she saw a large male dog giving her a push, anecdote).

Verso humoristico (Anastasia Quintana, grandmother of informant, used to tell the children, Alas, my God, when I die no one will feel sorry for me. Because we are not related, I will care very little, humorous prayer, poem, family, death, muerte, old age).
