Ortiz, 1971: Mrs. Meliton Ortiz, b. 1930, Santa Fe, NM. 1. La senora y el dentista (Part II cont.); 2. El nino y su primera comunion (a priest calls a boy's mother to tell her that her boy is not ready to pass an examination to make his first communion, he is not educated in the faith and priest finds out the mother is even more ignorant, anecdote); 3. El nino y el cura (a priest asks a small boy what is the first thing he does upon getting up in the morning, boy says he goes to pee, nothing about making a sign of the cross or Jesus, anecdote).

Marcelina Ortiz, Santa Fe, NM. La bruja (returning from visiting his girl friend one night a witch frightens a young man, the young man gets into his car, which he is not able to start, locks himself inside the vehicle and decides to flee, when he gets home he is under great shock and is taken to the hospital, car was no good, had to be discarded, witch story).

Meliton Ortiz, b. 1924, Santa Fe, NM. 1. Las bolas de lumbre (a family is seating in the porch one night when two balls of fire, balls of light, are seen jumping from one tree to another, the family comes indoors and grandmother feels a hand touch her arm as she lights a lamp, the old lady's arm becomes paralyzed after the incident, witch story); 2. El diablo detras (a young man has been drinking, he is riding his horse home and is taunting the devil, he hears a voice behind him, the devil is coming to take him, the young man faints as he dismounts and gives up his drinking after the incident); 3. La calavera (a young man gets down from his horse and asks an old woman for a light to light his cigarette, when the woman turns around to face the young man, it is nothing more than a skull, supernatural tale); 4. La bruja (relato, a man is riding his car along a lonely country road, a snake crosses the road and the car runs over the reptile, villagers discover a little old woman suffering from bruises similar to those produced by a car running over a body); 5. La viejita que se aparecia (relato, the new capitol building in Santa Fe is built on the grounds formerly occupied by a cemetery, a prominent Santa Fe lady was buried there and her ghost appears to workers, the ghost appears dressed in black and wearing a typical Spanish mantilla, she is looking for her soul, ghost story).
