Garcia, 1970: Lazaro Frank Griego, b. 1888, Albuquerque, NM. 1. La bruja (Part II, first born child, a young girl, is kept by a witch, a boy discovers the girl and gets her pregnant, the witch transfers the girl to a pine tree transformed into a tower, the boy finds the girl again, discovers she is his sister, folk tale, other adventures, women, incest, children); 2. Maximas y versos (folk poetry, moral poems that appear in school readers, such as those of Mantilla at the turn of the last century, children, education, discipline, one poem about arbol torcido, tree that grows crooked cannot go straight); 3. El que lo perdio todo (relato, a man forsakes his family, starts drinking, loses his job, arguing with his wife and his young son comes to help out his mother, he kills his own son, moral story, murder, muerte, crime).
Sousa, 1970: Sofia Gurule, b. 1893, Placitas, NM. 1. Adivinanzas (two riddles, one about the camposanto, grave yard, burial, muerte); 2. Santa Rita (Santa Rita, santo, is visited by an angel, tells her to go to a mountain to meditate, there she sees a king carrying all his money with him, he drops some, an old man finds it, she is afraid king will kill the man, king rewards him for having done good deeds, legend); 3. San Cristobal (St. Christopher, a young man meets a hermit who tells him to work for God transporting people across a river, he does and meets child Jesus Christ who names man Cristobal and has him preach to word of God, folk tale, related incidents when Cristobal makes a king see truth of God); 4. Genoveva de Brabante (Part I, Genoveva, a queen, is left alone in her castle when the king goes off to war, Golo, a butler, writing letters to king, accusing the young queen of infidelity, unfinished, folk tale, women, family, cont. on CD 147).
