Juan Sandoval, b. 1888, Albuquerque, NM. 1. Un hombre que tenia un solo hijo (a rich man has one son, one day the son decides to get married, the father needs someone to send on an errand for him that will require several months, the young man leaves his wife in his father's car, when he is gone, a witch steals his bride, when he returns, he sets out to find her, folk tale, marriage, women); 2. Maria Junjuriana (a young man sets out to find his bride that a witch steals from him, he steals his wife back from the witch, the witch puts a curse on her and tells her that her husband is going to forget her, he does, but she wins him back with the help of two doves, folk tale, women).
Ramon Montez, b. 1919, Albuquerque, NM. Un joven solo en el mundo (an orphan leaves his home in search of fortune, comes to town where a king is offering hand of his young daughter in marriage if can make her laugh, the orphan succeeds, later the young man wins a bet from a neighboring king and becomes one of the richest young kings in the area, folk tale).
Juan Sandoval, b. 1888, Albuquerque, NM. 1. Unos viejitos y el muchacho que pidio posada (a man asks if he can stay with some old folks and offers to take care of their goats, the old man tells him where to pasture the goats, he finds a better pasture but it belongs to a witch who has a bull, the bull fights with the young man, by the end of the day he kills the bull and wins the fight, folk tale); 2. Tumba Cerros, Rumba Pinos y Juan Garrote (three friends find a cave and decide to explore it, the first two get scared and refuse to go too far, Juan Garrote is not afraid, he finds a city down in the cave, he kills a lion, a bear, and finally a Black man - African American, he cuts off the Black man's ear and puts it in his pocket, later he bites the er and the Black man reappears and bring Juan his horse, folk tale); 3. Un viejo con tres hijos (an old man has three sons, they each learn a trade, the youngest becomes an expert thief, the king tries to kill him because he becomes successful in stealing his gold and cattle, the king puts the young man through many trials, the young man is so tricky that the king finally sets him free, folk tale); 4. El joven que robo a unos labrones (a young man decides to join a band of robbers and marries the daughter of one of them, the king is very upset with the stealing that is going on, so he sets a trap for the robbers, thieves, folk tale); 5. Indita de San Luis (fair recording, distortion, sings verses to Saint Louis, he says that he promised to make the verses and dance to this saint for the safe return of his son, folk song, religion, church).
