Maria Melinda Orona, b. 1922, La Constancia, NM. 1. Sudario (recites a prayer for the soul of a deceased person or for the souls in Purgatory, velorio, muerte, death, burial, funeral); 2. Alabado (good recording, recites a hymn of praise to the Holy Child of Atocha, Nino de Atocha); 3. Jaculatoria (recites an aguinaldo prayer to the Virgin Mary); 4. Santa Lucia (recites an old prayer that is still quite popular in twentieth century New Mexico, Virgin Mary on the Monte de San Lucia, crucifixion of Jesus).
Mary Sanchez, b. 1926, La Constancia, NM. 1. Cuando al Santo Nino (religious poem, to the Holy Child of Atocha, asks for welfare and safe return of soldiers, probably World War II, made promise if survived will visit the morada of Nino de Atocha, is completing the promise, folk poetry); 2. San Isidro (good recording, Cobos says this is the longest and most complete lyrical hymn of praise to San Isidro, patron saint of farmers, acequias, irrigation, folk song, he says it is an alabanza).

Las posadas (good recording, she reads from the manuscript and then she and neighbors sing music from Las Posadas, seeking lodging for the birth of the Christ child, Christmas, Navidad); 2. Arbolito de Navidad, Noche Buena (recites a Christmas poem about the tree, Christmas peom); 3. Canto navideno (good to fair recording, she sings Christmas song to the Holy Child of Atocha, Nino de Atocha, Navidad); 4. Alabanza (her neighbors sing a religious hymn to our Lord Jesus, hymn of praise); 5. Alabanza (Mrs. Orona and her neighbors sing a hymn of praise to Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, hymn of praise); 6. Como es Dios (what is God like, the Lord, she read an odd and interesting piece about God, He is like an aspirin, works miracles, like a Ford, better ideas, like Dial soap, around the clock protection, like Coca cola, the real thing, like Pepsi cola, a lot to give, like Dr. Pepper, well understood, like Alka Seltzer, try Him you will like Him, religion, faith, prayer); 7. Juego de ninos (describes a guessing game, children sit at a table, cross their hands and guess the name of a flying bird when teacher describes a particular bird, procedures, etc.).
Carlota Mora, b. 1913, La Constancia, NM. 1. Dos hermanas (a nun tells another that she is going away to Florida, the second nun is deaf so the first has to make signs to tell her how large oranges are and how long bananas get, the deaf nun asks her, what priest are you talking about?, anecdote, religion, church, women, convent); 2. Las medias (a bride is very slow about undressing, she asks her husband if she should take off her stockings, impatiently the husband answers her sarcastically you can start knitting them if you want to, anecdote, marriage, wedding, women); 3. San Pedro (someone has stolen an overcoat in heaven, Mexicans are not allowed there but a blue eyed Mexican has gotten by St. Peter, the saint orders musicians to play song Jesusita en Chihuahua and Mexican shouts viva Mexico and thief is found out, anecdote); 4. El borracho (a drunk goes to church, tells large statue of St. Anthony that he better get him a job or he will break the statue, some one hears the threat, large statue is replaced by a small one, what drunk says to little statue, anecdote, drinking, santo); 5. La viejita (one night during Holy Week, Semana Santa, about seven last words of Jesus the priest announces that all pregnant women are to go back home because service will be too long for them, an old eighty year old woman starts to go, too, when questioned, said I would if I could meaning have a baby, anecdote); 6. El bingo (two friends are talking, one tells the other he cannot understand how the game of bingo is played, gambling, because some shout bingo while other say dirty words, anecdote); 7. Versos de bautismo (good recording, recites two quatrains of baptismal verse, folk poetry).

Don Cacahuate (anecdote, he and son who doesn't want a cold tortilla, don Cacahate warms it under his armpit but then it is too hot for the child); 2. La Virgen de Guadalupe (relato, summary of the legend of the apparition of the Virgin Mary in Mexico in 1531 to a lowly Indian, Juan Diego, legend); 3. La virgen en la ventana (details of the supposed apparition of the image of Our Lady Virgin Mary on window panes in a house in Belen, NM, see Espinosa interview for conclusion on CD 99); 4. La nina (relato, a girl and boy fall in love, the boy asks a woman neighbor what kind of girl his love is, the woman says the girl is a fine girl, but the boy drops the girl friend, the girl dies of sadness and the woman cannot forgive herself, she dies on the girl's grave, muerte, death, women. Story of La nina que no sabia rezar, girl who could not pray a whole Ave Maria, Hail Mary, conclusion, women); 5. Tome escapar (Mrs. Orona relates that an Indian and his boy and a Spaniard and his girl lived together in Tome; parents promise to marry the kids when of age, parents of the girl renege on their promise and Tome is burned by the Indians, massacre, Native American Indian, see CD 121); 6. Remedios caseros (Mrs. Orona tells how she has seen the evil eye cured, el mal ojo, curandera rubs watery fresh egg over body of child, if suffering from el mal ojo, an eye will appear in the yellow of the egg; discusses bone fractures and inflammation, home remedies); 7. Brujeria (speaks of belief in witches, owl generally associated with witchcraft, very hard to kill, but if killed, the person practicing witchcraft usually dies); 8. Los Dias, Los Manueles (good recording, discusses the old song, custom of serenading at dawn at their homes, those persons named Manuel or Manuela, Emmanuel, New Years, the singers were invited into their homes for coffee, wine, empanadas, turnovers, food, cooking, customs, she sings one verse of the song); 9. Oracion (reads a well known sonnet which is used as a prayer to Christ crucified, prayer); 10. A Maria santisima (recites a prayer in which the person who prays consecrates all his or her being to Holy Virgin Mary, prayer).
