Sanchez, 1974: Jose T. Fernandez, b. 1915, Arroyo Seco, NM. 1. El cura y el jovencito (a boy feels he has sinned for eating weiners on a Friday and confesses his sin, the priest asks him to bring him a load of wood as penance, when the boy returns with a load of sawdust, the boy tells him that the meat he ate was ground into weiners and that he feels he wants to bring ground wood to the priest, anecdote); 2. La vaca y el ratoncito (a cow sees a little mouse and tells him she is shocked to see such a little being with a moustache, the mouse looks up at the cow and tells her he, too, is shocked to see such a cow with her large teats and no brassiere, anecdote); 3. El burro recalcitrante (a man cannot get his donkey to budge, a passerby goes to the donkey's ear, touches it with a lighted cigarette and gets the donkey up and going, man can't figure out what other one told the donkey, folk tale); 4. El marrano gordo (a man wants to butcher his hog but does not want to give his neighbors any of the meat, a friend tells him to butcher it during the night, then announce that the hog has been stolen, that night the friend steals the pig, folk tale); 5. Un bien con un mal se paga (a man rescues a snake that is trapped under some heavy rocks, once free, the snake wants to bite the man, the man complains that this is an act of ingratitude, a fox comes by and saves the man, folk tale); 6. Rezo yo, mama (a man dies and is placed in the living room, the widow and her young son kneel down to pray for the man's soul, the boy asks the mother if he, too should pray, rezo you, the mother thinks that the boy is telling her that the dead man is breathing, runs of of the room, related incidents, comedy, anecdote, language, play on words, velorio, muerte, death, funeral).

Banuelos, 1971: Sarita Padilla, b. 1907, Anton Chico, NM. 1. Sopitas de miel (a New Mexican version of the Cinderella story, with the heroine getting a gold star on her forehead for being so obedient and kind to others, step sister gets horn on forehead, glass slipper, marriage, folk tale, see Sarita on CD 54); 2. El sentidito de oro, the magic ear (a boy lives with his grandmother, one day she asks him to sell the cow because they need money to buy food, the boy exchanges the cow for a snake that some boys are torturing, the grateful snake gives the boy a magic ear, folk tale, see more of story on CD 55).
