Maricela de la Garza, b. 1948, El Paso, Texas. La carne que se agusano (couple with three children, wife prepares meat for family meal, when sees grandfather coming to house to eat, she hides some of it not to share it with him, once he leaves she takes it out and the meat is full of worms, moral tale, women, cooking, food, generosity, sharing).
Carlos de la Garza, b. 1916, El Paso, Texas. Carlos, su amigo y la dinamita (relato, a friend invites him to go and blast a certain place where treasure is believed buried, the dynamite expert is killed in a airplane crash the night before and the project is never realized, mystery, muerte).
Mrs. Carlos de la Garza, El Paso, Texas. El viejito que engano a sus nueras (an old man is afraid he is going to be mistreated by his daughters in law, he gets a Box and pretends that he has a great deal of money in it, indeed the old man has money, they all want him to live with them, the old man finally goes to live with the youngest of the daughters, folk tale, incomplete, family, greed).
Fernando Arguelles, b. 1918, El Paso, Texas and Albuquerque, NM. 1. San Lorenzo y el senor que hallo trabajo por mediacion del santo (relato, church of San Lorenzo outside Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, there a man finds a job in a bakery by asking San Lorenzo, later names his new-born son in honor of the saint, faith, religion, employment). 2. San Lorenzo, patron saint of children, a couple without children walk from downtown Juarez to the church of San Lorenzo, asking help, later child is born to them, family, religion, santo).
