Chavez: Patricio Chavez, b. 1903, Monte Aplanado, NM. 1. Part II, El conejo que hacia mandados (folk tale); 2. Pedro de Urdemalas y el cura (folk tale, variation, Pedro and the priest, on way to nearby village to say mass, Pedro eats their common lunch, other adventures); 3. Los tres hermanos (folk tale, three brothers leave home in search of work, employment, job, meet the Lord who offers money or advice, the youngest brother chooses advice and is more successful); 4. El leon y el burro (folk tale, a donkey outwits a lion who had planned to eat him); 5. Los viejitos y la marrana (folk tale, an old couple discussing who should die first, burglar pretending to be Death comes for one of them, neither wants to go, gives him their pig instead, muerte, see CD 89); 6. Los caminantes, El sueno (folk tale, two travelers, one is a Mexican, Mexicano, they get hungry, find a dove to roast, one who dreams the best dream will get to eat it, Mexican dreams of a dove and eats it); 7. Los astronomos (folk tale, weathermen and the donkey who predicts rain better than they can, see CD 12) ; 8. Chavez: Jacinta Ortiz, b. 1884, Rowe, NM. La Pablita (relato, story, Pablita Angel, Paula Angel, is hanged for murder in Las Vegas, New Mexico, April 27, 1861, women); 2. El piojo y la liendre (romance, fair to poor recording, old Spanish ballad, corrido, the louse and the nit, excellent rendition); 3. Pedro de Urdemalas (folk tale, variation, Pedro and priest, eats their lunch, religion, church); 4. Hipolito y sus versos (folk poetry, Jacinta has neighbor who recites popular verses, quatrains, examples); 5. Los Pastores, folk drama, shepherd play Pastores as seen in the Pecos Rowe, New Mexico area, Christmas); 6. Versos, etc. (folk poetry by Hipolito, similar to No. 4); 7. Dias de escuela (she recalls how she went to school, education, children, games on playground and on way home, reminiscence); 8. Entriega de bautismo (fair recording, sponsors baptizing a child, godmother, godfather, compadre, padrino, sponsor, chuch, religion, family); 9. Entriega de novios (fair recording, the bride and groom are turned over to each others parents, in verse).
