Chavez, 1971: Jacinta Ortiz, b. 1884, Rowe, NM. 1. Visitas en un Foringo (relato, story, ford car, foringo, visits made to relatives and friends in a Model T Ford, describes roads and economic conditions in Rowe and Pecos, New Mexico, automobile, illness, prescriptions by doctor, medicine, health); 2. Viajes a Las Vegas, New Mexico, relato (story of family trips from Pecos to Las Vegas, travel, food, cooking, spices, hieleras, ice Boxes, herbs, altamisa, oregano, azafran, albacar, manzanilla); 3. Enfermedades y curas, relato (story of illnesses and treatment, such as measles, smallpox, ronquera or horseness in throat, and herb remedies, plumajillo, inmortal, mal ojo and cure, children, local health, medicine, curandero); 4. Reminiscences (her type of work, employment, jobs, use of money, bread making, foods, droughts and rain in the Pecos and Rowe area of New Mexico, weather); 5. Turner, 1971: Edwin Berry, b. 1915, Tome, NM. Good recording. 1. Death of a young lady (relato, story of Sofia Jaramillo Maxwell, killed by jealous boyfriend, murder, women, muerte, see CD 220); 2. Los Manueles, the Manuels, Emmanuel, New Year's custom, tells of various persons named Manuel, A - V, Aragon, Garcia, Otero, Vallejos, etc. Talks about la gala, or tip, el reenganche, recruiting farm workers, labor, immigrants); 3. Folk songs (El Pregon, vendor's song, a cry, about Rio Abajo, Valencia County, Tome, etc. fruit vendors selling, bartering for sheep, cattle, commentary, in northern villages, Taos, etc. He sings other songs, Anglo-American songs, some in Spanish, whistling, Shoo Fly, Don't Bother Me, El senor Don Malero Poncho, Te Adoro, Listen to The Mocking Bird, The Constitution, London Bridge, Las Fuentes, Esta Noche con la Luna, Adolorido, Me Importa Tito, Spanglish); 4. El Venadito and other songs (Part I, folk songs, Venadito, and La Huera or Me Case con Una Huera, and El Capotin, an old Galicia song, composed by the Chavez brothers of Willard, New Mexico, said Berry).
