Carrillo: Mary Marquez, b. 1931, La Joya, NM. 1. El nino con dientes (folk tale, man finds baby in a field, child is picked up and talks, has teeth); 2. El viaje del borracho (folk tale, a drunkard walking home from bar sees a monster one night behind him, acclaims the names of the Holy Family and the monster disappears, drinking, Jesus, Mary, Joseph, religion, church).
Carrillo: Carolina Carrillo, b. 1921, La Joya, NM. Good recording. Un joven que queria casarse, marriage (folk tale, on good advice of his mother to find women that are not spoiled or spendthrifts, a young man goes house to house asking for lodging and food for his horse, when he finds a girl who replies she has none, he has the right one).
Carrillo: Juan Carrillo, b. 1921, La Joya, NM. Good recording. Que rezo yo (anecdote, woman and granddaughter at church for the rosary, play on words, "Que rezo yo" vs "Que resollo," language).
Carrillo: Mrs. Juan Carrillo, b. 1931, La Joya, NM. Good recording. 1. La pajara y la zorra, pajaro, zorro (animal fable, when fox eats baby chicks from her nest, mother bird invites fox to heavenly wedding, picks him up, flies with him into the air and drops him); 2. El puente que se quebro (folk tale, old couple lives on other side of river, they build a rickety bridge of twigs to cross, send their goat to test it, it breaks and goat falls into the river, lost of their profits and efforts).

Un hombre se halla un nino diablito, diablo, folk tale, (elderly couple sitting on porch one night, he hears a noise, discovers a baby, follows it, baby increases speed, become a ball of fire, when man returns home, discovers his wife had died mysteriously).

Carrillo: Pedro Griego, b. 1900, Alameda, NM. 1. Verso (folk poetry, autobiographical information in verse); 2. El ruido (Jose Lucero takes up a bet to sleep at a haunted house, hears noise on the roof and finds that wind on an old sheepskin is pounding it, like jackal and the drum, animal fable, Pancnatantra).
Juan Vicente, b. 1949, Chimayo, NM. El joven que se emborracho y mato al padre (a drunkard son kills his father in anger one day and carries him on his back, finds that the father is permanently glued to his back, drinking, family).
Carrillo: Diego Gallegos. Un leon en el bosque (good recording, relato, one day when he is out for wood, Diego kills a mountain lion, incomplete).
Carrillo: Mendoza family. Commercial recording, good to fair. 1. Corrido de Carlos Coronado (killed by twenty-five soldiers, ballad with instrumental accompaniment); 2. La barca marina (popular contemporary recording with musical accompaniment, Mexican American music, by the Mendoza sisters).
