Gonzalez: Jacobo M. Bernal, Jake Bernal, b. 1893, Taos, NM. Good recording. 1. El aire viejo (folk tale, story of the old north wind, his beautiful imprisoned wife, and a man who helps her escape, story Jacobo learned from his grandmother, Manuelita Trujillo, women ); 2. El grillo negro (folk tale, the black cricket answers the king's riddle, wins the princess); 3. El matrimonio y la muerte (folk tale, a couple is discussing which should die first, overhearing them a rascal knocks at the door that he is Death and has come for them, neither wants to go first, women, marriage).
Gonzalez: Sara Morgas, b. 1901, Taos, NM. 1. La Cenicienta (folk tale, Cinderella variation, instead of a glass slipper, she drops silver leaves for the guests at the ball, she loves the king but ends up marrying the prince, women); 2. Los tres bueyecitos (folk tale, girl who takes care of her three brothers, witch turns them into oxen, women); 3. La escalera de popotitos of stairs made of straws (anecdote, childen, word game, an old man, old woman and a goat); 4. Verso, about zoquete, grass; 5. Adivinanzas, twelve riddles, one about el reloj, the clock); 6. El pajaro verde (folk tale, the king asks a girl named Arcilla, to do impossible tasks, the prince and the green bird help her, and she marries the king, women).
Gonzalez: Amarante Vigil, b. 1911, Taos, NM. 1. El labrador que entendia la lengua de los animales (animal fable, the shepherd who understood his animals language, donkey and oxen); 2. Chiste de Juan y Pedro (folk tale, two Mexicans, buy a car, return to the USA, speak in English, with accents, humor, Mexico).
Gonzalez: Rafaelita Gonzalez, b. 1917, El Prado, NM. Good recording. La muchacha que vivia sola (folk tale, variation of Cinderella story, girl lives alone as an old lady, one day dresses up, goes to church, mets a prince, they fall in love).
