Sandoval: Anonymous, Taos, NM. Fair recording. 1. Un hombre y el pescado (folk tale, man catches a mermaid which grants him three riches in exchange for his son, adventures of the son); 2. Dos esposos que no sabian que harian (good recording, folk tale, couple plans if one dies the other will be buried beside the other, death, muerte, bural, incomplete).
Sandoval: Anonymous, Taos, NM. Costumbres, Los Penitentes, Taos (poor recording, various accounts, organization, rites, then and now, little respect from younger generation toward Hermandad, etc.)
Sandoval: Mrs. Natividad Montano, b. 1890, Taos, NM. 1. El cochinito que resulta ser principe, folk tale (marrano or pig that marries three sisters, the last a princess that makes him a prince); 2. Los animales abandonados que apalean un tigre (animal fable, a ram, pig, donkey and rooster work together to fend off a tiger); 3. Los ladrones, se les roba el jamon, folk tale (two thieves steal a ham and put it in a bag, then stay overnight with an old woman, joke of King Jamonin, she takes the ham, puts an adobe brick in the bag in its place, King Adobin, women); 4. La princesa que no se reia (folk tale, a princess is sad and never laughs, so king offers her in marriage to man who can make her laugh, suitors who fail are killed, many adventures); 5. Adivinanza (riddle about la carta); 6. Un hombre no da trajabo a los llamados Juan - John (anecdote, boss will not hire anyone named Juan, a man lies and said his name is Pedro, gets the job but then is fired because he walks like a Juan, employment, labor, work); 7. La vaquita (folk tale, family and cow move to new home, to cheer up sad cow, wife says there will be bulls there); 8. Dos amigos se cambian de estado en la vida (anecdote, a rich man helps his poor friend alot, when the friend dies dead man puts a sign on his grave for the rich man, now see if you can revive me, death); 9. Entriega de novios (fair recording, with instrumental accompaniment).
