Scope and Contents

Duran: Natividad Duran, b. 1906, San Jose, NM, County unknown. Good recording. 1. Adivinanzas (poor recording, riddle, Adan, Eva, la tierra, Abel, Adam and Eve); 3. El hombre sin cuidado (good recording, las dos preguntas, folk tale, king asks a man to answer - what am I worth, and how fast can I go around the world, disguised as him, the man's servant answers, good replies, lower working poor class smarther than higher rich people).

Gonzalez: Fortunato Martinez, b. 1889, El Prado, NM, Taos County. 1. Lo mas maravilloso (anecdote, Mexico, Mexican eagle is best of all, it can roost on the top of the Americn flag); 2, El de la barberia (anecdote, two barbers, father and son, expand from ground floor to upstair, advertise as we shave top and bottom, and then lose their customers, business); 3. El gato negro (anecdote, reward for a lost cat, women).
