Scope and Contents
Cobos: Anonymous. Good recording. 1. Adivinanzas (four riddles, que es la cebolla, la escoba, etc.); 2. Un hombre a quien le dieron trabajo (folk tale, the king gives work to a frail young man who turns out to be a girl, and the prince falls in love with her, women, employment, job); 3. Silbido (good recording, whisling, humming a tune); 4. Oraciones (three traditional family and Penitente prayers); 5. El licor (declamation, narrative, on the virtues of liquor, drinking); 6. Versos de los trovos, folk poetry about New Mexico poetic contests, poets); 7. La Joaquinita (good to fair recording, folk song, cancion, old love song on the beauty of a girl, women); 8. La ventana (ghost story, dead husband guards open window of a home while the widow and children are away, women, between Guadalajara, Mexico City); 4. Una senora que contaba cuentos (un relato, old story teller advises on preparing for death, muerte, and related incidents, women).
Cobos: Anonymous. 1. Dichos (thirty-three folk sayings, proverbs); 2. El perico (folk tale, parrot does not talk, so owner puts him in the chicken coop); 3. Las dos muchachas (anecdote, a city girl and a country girl compare their way of life, women); 4. Dos cazadores (anecdote, problems of an inexperienced hunter); 5. El cura, la monjita y el camello (anecdote, the nun and a lustful priest, camel reference, women, church, religion); 6. Pedro de Urdemalas (folk tale, Pedro, a priest, a gassing horse and their lunch, church, religion).
