From the Collection: There are 823 World War II posters, maps and miscellaneous items like pamphlets and booklets in this collection. The material was issued by various federal agencies. Among the artists and cartoonists represented in the collection are Ben Shahn, Norman Rockwell, N.C. Wyeth, Walt Disney, Al Capp, Hank Ketchum, Antonio Arias Bernal, Jean Carlu, Edward McNight Kauffer, Herbert Bayer, and Alexey Brodovitch. European and Latin American artists also created the works. Some of the political and military figures represented on the posters are Admiral Yamamoto, Emperor Hirohito, General Dwight D. Eisenhower, President Harry S.Truman, General Douglas MacArthur, Admiral Nimitz, Mussolini, Adolf Hitler and President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Most posters are in English, some are in Spanish, Portuguese and German. Folders 1-46 are posters, folders 47-54 are newsmaps.
