Scope and Content

From the Collection: The photographs in this collection include views taken in the following identified locations: Amecameca, Atzcapotzalco, Cuernavaca, Mexico City, Los Mochis, Paricutin (Michocan), Sinaloa, Salina Cruz, Uruapan, Michoacan, El Valle (Sinaloa), Xochimilco.

Subjects include: agriculture, agricultural laborers and peasants, washerwomen, pottery making and pottery, street scenes, markets (flower market in Mexico City), carts and wagons, the pelota game being played in Sinaloa, traffic in Mexico City, Indians and mestizos working and at their homes, and women working. Notable are two large images (in oversize box) of Parícutin volcano erupting in Michoacán in 1943, and photos of women: in an outdoor painting class, doing drawn work embroidery, and selling flowers.
