Scope and Content

From the Collection: The Linda Montoya Collection contains 52 black and white, and color, digital photographic prints spanning from 1973-2009. Each print is 8" x 10”. The images consist of documentary photographs of people and places in northern New Mexico including Santa Fe, Chimayo, Las Trampas, Truchas, Chamita, Cochiti Pueblo, Velarde, Taos, and Cordova. The collection includes six images of agricultural lands in southern New Mexico around the Mesilla Valley. The portraiture of the collection is of artists, craftspeople, business people, the residents of towns in northern New Mexico as well as the relatives of Linda Montoya. The subjects are photographed within a setting related to their trade or in their home environment. A portion of the collection is images of small family sanctuaries as well as public chapels including Santo Nino de Atocha in Chimayo and San Jose de Gracia Church in Las Trampas.
