Scope and Content

From the Collection: The collection consists of a photo album documenting the buildings designed by architect, Charles W. Dawson. Photos are black and white and sepia. Early projects were commissioned in Lima, OH (Lima Memorial Hall and the Carnegie Library). Much of Dawson’s work was centered in Muskogee, OK, including schools, churches, a firehouse, office buildings, and hospital. Particularly notable are additions to Bacone Indian University, built 1922-1924 (science hall, men’s dormitory, and dining hall) and the Murrow Indian Orphan’s home. Dawson collaborated on both of these projects with the Architectrual Department of the American Baptist Home Mission Society.
