Scope and Content

From the Collection: This collection contains 12 posters showcasing influential Hispanic American women. Each poster consists of a photographic image (photographs by Idaljiza Liz-Lepiorz) and a quotation by one of the women. The subjects include: Julia Alvarez, Sandra Cisneros, Miriam Colon, Antonia Hernández, Dolores Huerta, Tania León, Amalia Mesa-Baines, Adreana C. Ocampo, Antonia Pantoja, Helen Rodríguez-Triás, Ana Sol Gutierrez, and Nydia Velázquez. The posters were produced by the Bread and Roses Cultural Project, to accompany the videorecording "Women of Hope: Latinas abriendo camino: 12 ground-breaking Latina women." The videotape and study guide (with biographical sketches of each of the women, lesson plans for learning more about these women and about building and "uncovering" community, and resource guide) are available at the Fine Arts Library.
