Scope and Content
From the Collection:
Collection contains photographs (7.5 x 9.5 in. or smaller) from Fabiola Cabeza de Baca Gilbert's childhood and work as a school teacher. The majority of the photos contain images of the Ranch on the Carricito, near Las Vegas, New Mexico, where Fabiola spent her childhood. These images include Fabiola as a child, her family and neighbors, cattle herding and branding, horse teams, rodeos, and hay baling. The remaining photographs include images of carriage rides, a family picnic to Indian Cave (1916), the ranch house, the rural school house where Fabiola taught, a baby portrait, and an award ceremony for outstanding leadership in New Mexico.
