Portraits of Gertrude Hill, colleagues, and patrons at work inside the History Library of the Museum of New Mexico, in Santa Fe. A group of snapshots show Indian ceremonials, including the Eagle dance. (Some may include Gov. John Mechem.) There is a photo of the 6th Cavalry on dress parade at Fort Stanton, New Mexico, in 1885. Landscapes include several shots of Kingston, N.M., dams, and mining sites--ruins of cabins and processing structures at Oro Fino, Keystone, Midnight, Ancho, and placer sites along the Galisteo River. There are two good views of Camel Rock: at dusk (1950-60) and a stereograph (1880 -89). Other photos show locales of historical interest, such as the Lincoln County courthouse and Kit Carson's home. There is a photographic reproduction of the 1768 Urrutia map of Santa Fe. Stereoreographs by William H. Brown include views of Cerrillos, one of Santa Fe showing the Loretto Chapel standing almost alone in the landscape, San Juan Pueblo, the railroad yard at Deming, a river scene near the Las Vegas Hot Springs, and the stone carving of mountain lions near Cochiti Pueblo.
