Scope and Content
From the Collection:
This collection of religious music and interviews was taped in 1950 by Richard Stark in Santa Fe, New Mexico. All of the singing is in Spanish. The interviews are in English and Spanish. The first introduction is by Pedro Ribera Ortega. The collection contains personal information from the singers Tranquilino Lujan, Ezequiel Padilla and Tomas Sena. There are alabados, songs for Holy Week, Penitente songs, Los Pastores songs for Chrismas, and prayers and songs from the velorios for the burial of the deceased (death). There are also discussions of some of the songs. One song was for La Union Protectiva or Mutalistas.
