Recollections from an interviewer in 1930: wars, White people, American settlement, murders, slavery of the Indians by the Whites, Lucy Young story, beginning in 1862 with her grandfather, escape from the U.S. soldiers, atrocities towards female Indians, starvation of the Indians by the American soldiers, escape from American concentration camps for the Indians; preparation of hazel nuts, eating grasshoppers for survival, games played in Indian concentration camp, killing of Indian men by the U.S. soldiers at Fort Steward, slavery of U.S. Indians for U.S. Army officers, escape from grizzly bears, hanging of Indians and then building their own funeral pyre, forced domestic servants, escape from forced domestic labor, escape route and ways of covering trails, atrocities towards escaped Indians when captured.
