From the Collection:
This collection contains transcriptions and translations of colonial period documents related to Pueblo and Spanish land issues and interactions between Pueblo leaders and Spanish officials. The territorial period documents are mostly original letters to and from officials from the Indian School in Santa Fe, Zuni boarding school, Pueblo Indian Agency, Bureau of Indian Affairs, Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad, US military, and attorneys, educators and Pueblo Officials and parents of students in Indian School. This correspondence deals with varied issues including social conflicts, land boundaries and every day operation of schools and Indian agencies. The oversize series contain statements and reports that are mostly from U.S. Indian Industrial School in Santa Fe and have information about students (arrivals and departures) and daily school operation.
