Huning-Connell Mercantile Jumbo Letter File, 1913

 File — Box: 13, item: 6
Identifier: CD 1

Scope and Contents

Approx. 500 pieces of incoming mail and carbon copies of the Huning & Connell replies. One unusual item is a "Memorandum of Number and Weights of Wool Shipped to Messers. Brown & Adams, Boston, Mass." by Albuquerque Wool Scouring Mills, an Albuquerque firm that cleaned the wool of sand & pebbles before shipment to East coast brokers; this receipt, for lots 99 through 101 represents 251 bags containing 52,870 lbs. of wool for which the Scouring Mill was issuing a check for $6,317.98. Some disappointing news arrived July 15, 1913 from the J. I. Case Threshing Machine Co. Amarillo Texas office: "You will readily see from the above that there was nothing (in Huning's letter) to indicate that you expected the cash discount under the terms of the 1913 agreement with us, and our acceptance of the (Huning) order did not take this into consideration, consequently it is now too late for you to have the advantage of the discount."
