Stock account entries for 13 July 1916 reveal a reorganization of the Mercantile Co. under a charter dated 12 July 1916. Certificate #1 to Henry Huning with par value of $4,000, #2 to Fred D. Huning with par value of $4,800, #3 to L. B. Huning with par value of $1,500, #4 to C. W. Aguirre with par value of $500, #5 to Emma H. Connelly with par value of $1,200 and #6 to Walter Connell with par value of $3,500. The journal reports reflect heightened business activity during the World War I era.
