L. & H. Huning Accounts Receivable Journal, 1879-1881

 File — Box: 41

Scope and Contents

The Huning brothers mercantile training and regard for the importance of precise bookkeeping is revealed on each page of this very large journal as in basically all of the records in the archive. Inventory counts and sale rates can all be easily extrapolated from their entries. Here, in an entry for January 22, 1880, we find Jose Baca y Barela purchasing a dollar's worth of wax candles, a pair of gloves for six bits and rice for a dime to a total of $1.85. The following customer, Dionicio Salas spent a bit more, purchasing everything from overalls to cinnamon and wine leaving an outstanding charge of $13.30
