Short typed paper, 9 pp on the humpback image comparing the flute and shape to the cicada as cures for lightning shock, arrow wounds and associated with fecundity, hunting and rain making. Describes distribution – Olmec to Poverty Point, Miss., New Guinea, Chou China, the various "nesia" – argues diffusion through Bering Strait.
