This collection contains material produced and collected by Correia while researching and writing his book, Properties of Violence: Law and Land Grant Struggle in Northern New Mexico, University of Georgia Press, 2013. The collection is organized into two series: Rio Arriba County Research and Rio Arriba County Interviews.
In the Rio Arriba County Research series court files comprise the largest part of the collection. They consist of facsimiles of transcripts from archives containing land title claims and law suits involving the State of New Mexico and the Tierra Amarilla land grant, obtained from the Supreme Court of New Mexico and District Court of Rio Arriba County.This series also contains facsimiles of FBI records obtained by Correia from the National Archives and Records Administration, Denver and Wash. D.C., as part of the Freedom of Information Act, as well as clippings and other materials related to Pedro Archuleta, Corporacion de Abiquiu, Amador Flores, Mundy Ranch, Raza Unida party and land development in the Chama, N.M. area.
Transcriptions of interviews with persons involved with the Tierra Amarilla Land Grant conflict comprise the Rio Arriba County Interviews series.
