Scope and Content

From the Collection: The collection documents Mila Murray’s career teaching music, primarily employing the Robert Pace method. Included are articles she wrote about teaching, lesson assignments, class outlines, annotated textbooks as well as correspondence and associated materials. Murray’s Santa Fe Piano Conservatory teaching materials and materials associated with the New Mexico Women Composers’ Guild are included.

Class Murray gave at Santa Fe Community College to teach “the basics of notation, rhythm and harmony as they apply to the different periods of music" including baroque, classical, impressionistic, 20th century and jazz. Contains teaching outlines and thoughts for the class along with musical scores apropos by various composers.
