Two letters from Lawrence to Thomas Seltzer from the Del Monte Ranch, Questa, NM, 16 January 1923, 7 February 1923

 Item — Folder: 1

Scope and Contents

Lawrence writes in January about his progress writing and getting his stories published. He also chats about the weather, a new pony, and travel plans. The February letter informs Seltzer that he fired his agent, Robert Mountsier and discusses the status of various manuscripts, publishing plans and contracts, and upcoming travel plans to Mexico. Thomas Seltzer Inc. published D. H. Lawrence books until 1924 when Lawrence began working with Alfred A. Knopf, Inc. Seltzer dealt with a couple of obscenity cases pertaining to publication of Women In Love, which likely contributed to him going bankrupt.
