Scope and Contents
The Casa de Contratación (House of Trade) was the first administrative body created for the New World. It was commissioned to organize expeditions to America and was granted considerable authority and power.

Guatemala: Caciques protesting tribute, as citizens of Castilla not have to pay it; Guatemala, Indian rights, conditions; Guatemala, license of Alonso Zapata de Lujan, to go to Chiapas, as alcalde mayor.
